late afternoon in the small square behind the theatre complex in ulverstone, plane trees along the road with their leaves fluttering against each other in the wind, a lovely leaf rustling sound, a cedar, and a silver birch

timelessness, i just stayed and enjoyed it

later out on a small point a man in a singlet on dusk had wheeled out his bike over the stones and small round rocks to almost the waves and was feeding the seagulls and drinking successively from several bottles

he propped the bike up with a bit of wood and stood for long time there drinking and feeding the gulls

i was just lying on the stones further down and looking at him and colours on the sea

he put a shirt on when he was going back over the stones
